Parker played basketball for Bellbrook Select Team until sixth grade; he then went on to play basketball for the Salvation Army. Parker also participated on several AAU and Tournament Teams.  Although Parker was a competitor he treasured the friendships and fun that he had with his teammates and coaches as much as he did a victory on the court.  Parker’s passion for basketball also included a love for college and professional basketball teams.   Parker loved attending the University of Dayton Flyers games with his father in their father/son season seats.   Highlights of his passion for basketball included meeting Roosevelt “Velvet” Chapman, and attending a Miami Heat game in 2011.

Parker Bernard was an 11 year old athlete and student that attended Bellbrook Middle School.  Parker passed away on February 10, 2012 due to complications following surgery to have a brain tumor removed.  Parker was and will continue to be remembered as a boy with bright blue eyes, an ever present smile and a contagious laugh.  Parker was not only an excellent student but also a passionate athlete.

Parker was happiest when he was playing basketball and football.  Basketball was his true passion and it was not unusual to find Parker on the basketball court 7 days of the week.
